January, 2006
We have decided to return to the World Golf Village Renaissance Resort in St. Augustine, Florida as the resort again offered the best package for the money.
The basic three-day packages are for the evenings of May 11-13 while the extra night with breakfast package is for evenings either before or after the basic package dates. The local resident package applies to those who live in the St. Augustine area and prefer to stay at home while playing in the three golf competitions and attending the two catered dinners. It can also apply to those who have made arrangements to stay somewhere other than the Renaissance Hotel.
Last year we were fortunate to have LTG Buster Hagenbeck, Class of 1971, as our guest speaker. This year, we have invited the USMA Superintendent to attend and speak. Another possibility is to have David Lipsky, the author of “Absolutely American”, join us. Let us know if you have any suggested speakers.
Again this year several classes will help share the load of running this event - ’61 will obtain the prizes, ’62 will procure the items in the “goodie bag”, ’63 will write the competition rules and set up the pairings, ’64 will stock the hospitality suite, and ’66 will do the scoring for both the individual and class competitions.
One change this year is that the golf courses will no longer allow your Golfing Grads committee to set up practice rounds. As a result, you will have to contact the courses, arrange your own times and foursomes, and guarantee payment. See paragraph 1 d (2) of the reply sheet for details
Right now, the golf and hotel reservations are for 120 people. Call your classmates and friends and let them know how much fun we have.
We hope to see you in May-
Tyler & Dan Willson
