R-Day 50-Year Affiliation
Class Parent's Reception After Action Report
The Class Of 1962 50-Year Affiliation
Class Parents Reception in the Benny Havens Lounge, co-hosted with the AOG and
the DCA, from all indications I've gotten, was very successful. During the
Leadership Briefing at 1500 hrs. after we had closed the lounge, when the Sup.
referred to the Parents Reception ,there was a loud cheer from the parents,
family and friends in the auditorium.
The success was the result of the
outstanding participation by the following classmates and wives: Our roving
ambassadors Ted and Harriet Stroup, and Bill Dieal, Bob DeVries, John and
Eileen Dilley, Tom and Jean Eccleston, John Fee, Pat Fishburne, Bill and Betty
Kosco, Tom and Diane Middaugh, Jack and Susie Reavill, Steve and Marion
Sperman, Bob and Millie Wong and Pat & myself. And the AOG personnel, Bob
McClure Pres., Jim Johnston VP., Duston
Saunders Chief of Alumni Sup. Opns., Joel Jebb Dir., Kim McDermott Dir.,
Maryellen Picciuto Dir., Lisa Strine Dir., Kristi Brown Asst. Dir., Megan Dill
Asst. Dir., and Joann Boone, Coordinator. And the DCA personnel, COL Craig
Flowers Dir. DCA. and the DCA Restaurant Staff. The group met and talked to
many parents, family and friends from approximately 0630 to 1500. The heaviest
concentration was probably between 0700 and 1200. By the close at 1500 we
probably only had about 3-5 groups and they left just before 1500 to attend
the Leader's Briefing ( Sup, Comm and Brigade Commander for CBT) After we
closed the lounge, we had Ted and Harriet, Bill Dieal, Bob DeVries, Pat
Fishburne, Bill and Betty Kosco, Tom and Diane Middaugh, Pat & myself go to
the Swearing In Ceremony by Battle Monument at 1750 hrs. approximately. The
new cadets looked pretty good marching out there. They also looked a little
shell shocked, probably like we did those many years ago.
All of our participants expressed the
fact that they were glad they had come and said they really enjoyed
interacting with the parents, families and friends. It was really a very
enjoyable day, though somewhat long because many came early and stayed after
their scheduled times because of the crowds.
On a personal note, my thanks to all the
participants for their enthusiastic interaction with the 2012 families. Great
job everyone at the first 50-Year Class Affiliation event.
